new summer classes are posted!

it’s time to start those summer sewing projects!

if you have some great ideas for thing you want to sew, but need to learn how first, the adult intro to sewing class would be perfect for you!  these are the dates that it is being offered:

may 16 & 17: 5:30-9pm
may 21 & 22: 11am-3pm

june 4 & 5: 11am-3pm
june 6 & 7: 5:30-9pm

july 9 & 10: 11am-3pm
july 11 & 12: 5:30-9pm

and here are some of the things you’ll be learning in the class:
– threading the machine, winding bobbins, and learning the basic functions of the sewing machine
– straight stitching, curved lines, and turning corners
– plain seam
– french seam
– flat felled seam
– gathering
– top stitch hem
– zipper (multiple methods)
– zipper pouch
– basic machine maintenance

make your own fully lined, professional tote bag with a pocket on the second day of class!  you’ll be able to pick from the large selection of cotton prints to make your custom bag.

cost: $180 includes all materials – sewing machines are supplied.  however, it is recommended that you bring your own machine, if you have one.

adult intro to sewing: part 2 is perfect for anyone interested in learning how to correctly use a pattern- or anyone interested in getting started making clothing!

you will learn how to correctly use an apparel pattern and understand the fabric and notions requirements- plus make a skirt that actually fits you!

learn the differences between various kinds of fabrics, how to read and understand a pattern, how to properly size a pattern, and all of the sewing techniques in between.  you will also learn more about the sewing machine, such as: the different stitches available, what size needle to use based on the type fabric you are using and how to select the correct tension.

materials are not included in the cost of the class, but there is a large variety of fabric and notions at the store to choose from!
this class is held as two 3-hour sessions for $160.00, and a $60 deposit is required to hold your spot.  the balance will be due the day of the class.

if you’ve pretty much mastered basic sewing and have an ok understanding of store bought pattern, you’re ready to move onto making your own patterns.  the perfect introduction to this skill is through our dress making class.

in this 4 hour class, you’ll learn the skills to make an adorable summer dress- suitable for any occasion.  you’ll learn how to take measurements and fit a garment.  we’ll also discuss the perfect fabrication and details for whatever occasion you’re making this dress for!

the price for this 4 hour class is $120/person.  most materials are not included, but we have a huge variety of fabrics, buttons, ribbon, etc. that are perfect.  hurry and sign up because there is a maximum of 3 people per class!

and don’t forget about our private lessons!  they are $35/hour (materials separate), and they are perfect for anyone who needs a little help with a project, has a very specific goal in mind, or just has a crazy schedule!

we are very flexible as far as scheduling goes- you can work for as long and as often as you want.
